Family Action Network Movement (FANM) formerly known as Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami, Inc)/ Haitian Women of Miami is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to the social, economic, financial and political empowerment of low to moderate-income give them the tools to transform their communities.

We are looking for a Public Relations Assistant

Position Summary:
Public Relations and Media Assistant

FANM Public Relations and Media Assistant coordinates programs and promotes activities and services through various forms of media. Work directly with the Executive Director.


This is a fast-paced, self-driven position that requires a blend of interpersonal skills, creativity & flexibility, familiarity working with various tech platforms, and a willingness to complete different tasks every day.

The coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director


Detail of Responsibilities

  • Planning publicity strategies and campaigns
- writing and producing presentations and press releases

  • Generating publicity mentions
  • Assist organization in planning and executing events
  • Stay abreast of industry news and analysing media coverage
  • Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press, and related organisations
  • Organising and attending promotional events such as press conferences
  • Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations
  • Manage Executive Director Calendar
  • Reading and analyzing incoming memos, submissions, and distributing them as needed.

Qualifications.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritise and plan effectively
  • Awareness of different media agendas
  • Media, PR, Marketing, Events Promotion, and/or Journalism work experience preferred
  • Degrees in English, Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, or related field preferred
  • Ability to write and speak in multiple languages is preferred. Spanish and/or Creole skills a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.
  • Crisis communications experience preferred.

Skills, Abilities & Qualifications:

  • 2 years of previous experience working in Public Relations/Media?Journalism/Related field
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Outgoing personality and ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
, interpersonal skills and self-motivation.

  • Positive, proactive and personable team player.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Special interest in building power among lowincome people of color to fight for social, economic and racial justice.

Details of the Job:

Pay:
$40,000-$45,000
