Associate, Acquisitions


The Associate, Real Estate Acquisitions job supports the acquisitions of TIAA's real estate portfolio and provides support for its strategic relationships.

Working independently under general supervision, this job will assist executing on new real estate and property investment opportunities, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists with the coordination and compliance of all requirements for the closing and funding of real estate acquisition and development transactions.
  • Performs underwriting and market research of potential real estate investment opportunities that support the company's real estate investment and financial objectives.
  • Assists with sourcing new real estate acquisition opportunities and tracking active deals in the market.
  • Maintains external relationships with key market participants, investment sales, leasing brokers, and lenders.
  • Identifies increased efficiencies in the budgeting and operations of real estate and property assets.
  • Coordinates and oversees the due diligence process for asset acquisition and property development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of commercial real estate experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial real estate experience
  • Relevant coursework in undergraduate studies related to business, finance or real estate.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and Argus Enterprise.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Direct real estate acquisition or joint venture development experience.
  • Possess introductory knowledge of commercial real estate, economics, finance, valuation, and financing.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as this role will require interaction with senior team members of both the Industrial Sector and the broader Nuveen Real Estate organization, members of the brokerage community, direct sellers of real estate and joint venture development partners.
  • Ability to work in a team context and under pressure of tight deadlines, uncertain information and with limited resources; ability to manage time efficiently and to adapt to changing priorities as set by members of the senior leadership team and portfolio management.
  • Position requires analytical/reasoning skills to analyze disparate information flows based on market specific practice into a meaningful, relativevalue basis.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range:
$100,000/yr. - $115,000/yr.


Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.

In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
