Job Summary:


The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR), is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the Grant Specialist position.

This position researches, pursues, and monitors grant funding, activities, expenditures and deadlines to ensure that all aspects of the project are done in accordance with the grant proposal.


Job Duties:

  • Monitors awarded grants to ensure compliance with Federal programmatic and financial grant requirements
  • Prepares ongoing reports of activities and status of grant programs
  • Researches grant opportunities
  • Notifies agency administration and staff regarding the availability and suitability of relevant grants
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory issues pertaining to Federal funding
  • Maintains centralized grant files in compliance with records retention requirements
  • Prepares special technical and analytical reports as necessary
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting
  • Federal and State grant regulations and procedures
  • Accounting theory, principles, and practices as they relate to grants administration
  • The principles and practices of administration with particular emphasis on planning, organizing, and directing comprehensive administrative services
  • Principles and practices of public administration
  • Community resources
  • Online grant administrative tools (e.g., eCivis).

Skill in:

  • Verbal and written communication
  • Establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal working relationships
  • Project management
  • Proficient use of computers and associated software (Microsoft Office and Google)
  • Analyzing and systematically compiling technical and statistical information and preparing reports and correspondence
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets and making expenditure projections
  • Conducting research, analyzing findings, and formulating conclusions and recommendations
  • Mathematical computations
  • General office tasks

Ability to:

  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Prepare reports
  • Lead, motivate/mentor

  • Recognize problems, identify alternative solutions, and make appropriate recommendations

  • Learn the agency inmate programming needs; including but not limited to substance abuse, mental health, education, classification/custody/security, and victim services

Selective Preference(s):

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or Accounting
  • Four (4) years of experience with grants administration and/or compliance (governmental grants experience a plus), including four (4) years of managerial experience in State and Federal grant procurement, government finance, and/or grants accounting

Pre-Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Retirement:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
