Northrop Grumman, Tactical Space Systems Division, is seeking a Manager Mechanical Engineering 2 to join the team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role will be based in Gilbert, Arizona.

These roles are dynamic and interactive, involving collaboration with various stakeholders such as program management, systems engineering, flight hardware design engineers, and logistical support services. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills are essential for success in these positions.

The Integration & Test (I&T) Mechanical Engineering Department is in need of a versatile individual to take on the role of a Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) functional section manager who will also offer technical leadership to space programs and the engineering team.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Staffing support for space systems programs
  • Conducting quarterly performance evaluations and annual reviews
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance
  • Managing indirect, program direct, and capital needs
  • Professional development and mentoring
  • Supporting various initiatives and projects for process improvement
PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Proficiency in Cost Account Management (CAM)
  • Defining MGSE assignments and priorities across platforms
  • Managing MGSE development and readiness
  • Evaluating and standardizing MGSE processes
  • Developing consistency across program portfolios and sites
  • Contributing to staffing plans in the short and long terms

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Mechanical Design & Analysis of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE)
  • Reviewing technical data for accuracy and consistency
  • Providing guidance on structural analysis and tolerance studies
  • Experience in creating engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 requirements
  • Preparing MGSE proposals including costing, schedules, and risk mitigation
  • Deep understanding of Integration and Test processes in relation to MGSE needs
  • Supporting fabrication, build, and delivery of MGSE hardware
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field plus 8 years of engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field plus 6 years of engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience on projects and/or teams
  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of spacecraft sub-assemblies and integration and test processes
  • Previous experience as an MGSE designer or lead
  • Functional management background
  • Experience in space systems and production
