Patient Services Representative to join our team This position will support the Medical Oncology Department at our 3107 Hwy 71 East locatio n in Bastrop, Texas. Typical work week is Monday through Friday 8:30a - 5:00p.

What does the Patient Services Representative do? (including but not limited to)


Under direct supervision, performs general business office functions that may include some or all of the following: maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner, maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities, schedules outside testing and referrals for patients as required, follows up on completed outside testing to ensure reports are received and uploaded into patient chart, assists physicians in correspondence to referring physicians, sends completed notes to referring physicians and scans notes into patient chart, adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records, performs other duties as requested or assigned, and may type memos and forms.

Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities:


The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Pages clinic personnel as appropriate
  • Communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner according to procedures
  • Checks patients out after examination
  • Schedules returning appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines
  • Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, instruction sheets, and other details
  • Records patient cancellations and missed appointments
  • Reschedules appointments
  • Notifies appropriate staff of the cancellation and makes note in patient chart
  • Provides general administrative support by filing charts and forms
  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities
  • Schedules outside testing and referrals for patients as required
  • Follows up on completed outside testing to ensure reports are received and uploaded into patient chart
  • Assists physician in correspondence to referring physicians
  • Sends completed notes to referring physicians and scans notes into patient chart
  • Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines with regard to patient records

Qualifications:

Level 1

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • This position is entry level and requires 03 years of medical business office experience.
