Works accounts receivable through contact with patients, insurance companies and contracted entities.

Monitors accounts receivable, making contact with payers to ensure prompt payment of claims. Meets or exceeds departmental standards for accounts receivable aging.
Process payment plan arrangements for patient balances and cash patients. Forwards tracer claims to late payers as appropriate on a weekly basis.
Review electronic billing reject reports and make necessary corrections to rectify identified errors. Rebill claims once corrected.
Serve as primary point of contact for patient inquiries for assigned accounts.
Handles all secondary insurance billing for assigned accounts.
Review insurance denials and research reason for denial for assigned accounts. Make necessary corrections, if appropriate, and rebill corrected claim for assigned accounts.
Collaborate with other departments and clients if additional information is needed to reconcile accounts.
Handles mail and interoffice correspondence for assigned accounts.
Researches, collects data and prepares patient and insurance refunds from reports.
Posts appropriate payments and/or adjustments to reconcile accounts.
Provides support to other members of the Billing Department as needed.
Asses departmental systems, processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and provide enhancement suggestions to department management.
Other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent.
2 years of medical accounts receivable/collections experience.
1 year of payment posting.
Working knowledge of diagnosis and procedure coding systems. Medical terminology.
Ability to work with computerized billing system and Windows based programs. 10 key calculator by touch.
Valid California drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.
