The Assistant Director of Visits and Events for the Recruitment Events and Campus Visits team oversees the development, execution and assessment of events and campus visit programs focused on prospective student recruitment on the Tempe campus.

This position is also responsible for overseeing the development, execution and assessment of student engagement initiatives and programs led by the Recruitment Events and Campus Visits team.

This includes, but is not limited to, peer recruitment such as paraprofessional student organizations and student employment, housed at the four Metropolitan Phoenix Campuses.

This position reports to the Director of Recruitment Events and Campus Visits in Admission Services and is part of event professionals across all four campuses.

Essential Duties

  • Plans, coordinates and executes new student recruitment visit and event programs on the Tempe campus.
  • Participates in developing and administering department budgets for visit and event expenses in assigned areas.
  • Represents Tempe campus events issues to Admission Services and Academic Enrollment Enterprise staff.
  • Assists and guides ASU colleges, departments and schools on the Tempe campus in designing and implementing exceptional student recruitment events.
  • Collaborates with all offices (EOSS; Barrett, The Honors College; Housing; New Student Orientation; etc.) on the Tempe campus to maximize new student enrollment potential.
  • Serves as a key member within the Admission Services division at the Tempe campus.
  • Oversees the development and growth of the Devils' Advocates peer recruitment organization within the Recruitment Events and Campus Visits team, and develops training, professional development, membership growth and retention plans for the organization.
  • Manages the Tempe Campus Future Sun Devil Welcome Center facilities and daily operations.
  • Works with ASU Admission Services recruitment leadership, academic units, and university departments on the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental campus visitation programs, events and peer recruitment initiatives for prospective freshman, transfer, international and graduate students and their families.
  • Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates assigned staff. Works with employees to correct deficiencies and recommends and implements corrective action and discipline.
  • Assists with the analysis and interpretation of visit and event data, predicting resource needs, developing long
- and short-range range plans for assigned area and develops objectives and activities based on department goals.

  • Coordinates logistics, scheduling, staffing needs and participant communications for both on and off campus visit programs and events.
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Serves as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating and overseeing the development and evaluation of university recruitment events and campus visit programs.
  • Develops, maintains, advises and implements department policies and procedures.
  • Resolves problems and issues affecting the department and oversees measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
  • Utilizes recruitment systems (CRM and PeopleSoft) in support of recruitment goals and tactics.
  • Acts in place of the Director in that person's absence.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities ha
