SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant works independently and is responsible for the daily accounting functions of accounts receivables and accounts payables for all McNees locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: "Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

Utilize accounting methods to exercise discretion in the preparation of financial and various detailed analyses; produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, year-end, or ad hoc reports as requested.
Responsible for interpretation and evaluation of daily accounts receivable posting, review, and reconciliation for assigned accounts.
Responsible for utilizing independent judgement for preparing, auditing, and providing input for monthly and yearly reconciliations of assigned accounts
Responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions according to assigned account specifications
Prepare and collect information for the annual review, performed by a third-party CPA Firm.
Maintain confidentiality in handling and processing all sensitive and/or pay-related firm data
Utilize the firm-selected technology and seek ongoing training in applicable programs to maintain effectiveness and efficiency; manage work flow to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and timely
Evaluate and seek technology-based solutions for departmental practices and process improvement
Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field with 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant is preferred. Associates Degree is Accounting or related field, with 5 years of experience with Account Receivables, or a combination of education and experience will be considered; law firm experience a plus
General accounting knowledge is required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Aderant Classic software experience is a plus
Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain professionalism with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
Ability to be detail-oriented for completion of complex assignments. Ability to be proactive with accounting requests and tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, extreme temperature and the like.
