Duties:


Serves as the Manager, Retail Operation Projects for the Field Operations Branch, Business Operations Directorate, Business and Support Services Division (MR), Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, Headquarters Marine Corps.

The incumbent serves as a direct advisor to the Head Field Operations who assigns work in terms of overall objectives, results desired and provides guidance and direction.

Manages Directorate and Branch projects as assigned using accepted project management standards, methods, and systems. Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management. Responsible for overseeing detailed task management, monitoring activities, and reporting on project status. Has overall responsibility for assigned projects.

Serves as liaison to installation project managers, designated construction and design agents, contractors, professional associations, commercial contacts, and contacts with sister services and other Federal Government Agencies.

Manages all operational components for Headquarters driven projects for MCX retail stores for new constructions, remodels, and store resets. Manages project timelines across team members along with coordinating with all stakeholders and multiple branches across the organization.

Supervises Store Planning team who is responsible for creating and managing MCX brand standards and overall store customer experience including floor plans, fixtures, display, graphics and signing.

Coordinates timelines with store leadership and merchants for the phasing of merchandise moves.

Ensures team meets deadlines for floor layouts, fixture, and graphic requirements to include seasonal and other visual and signing packages.

Works closely with merchandising branch, construction branch, and store leadership to manage expectations and deadlines. Makes decisions and directs changes in project design, project scope and project specifications.


Manages functional support for point of sale, labor scheduling, task management and other systems used for operational activities inside MCX stores.

As Retail Operation Projects Manager, manages projects in support of new retail systems, upgrades, and enhancements. Identifies needs for store systems in support of business requirements or future capabilities to support the business.


Supervises full performance Store Planning team to include performing duties of assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending, and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment.

Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.


Frequently travels to Marine Corps field commands to provide technical guidance, advice and assistance, and attends required meetings, conferences, and seminars.

May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Ability to partner and coach diverse working groups. Knowledge of organization and planning skills, change leadership skills, supervisory and team-building skills. Ability to build relationships and align partnerships with varying constituencies across the organization. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Skill to deal effectively with senior leadership from military and commercial environments. Knowledge and experience with intermediate level computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database software and computer drafting/architectural programs). Must be able to travel in support of projects.

Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
