The Summer Bus Driver is responsible for safe transit of campers and staff during the camp day to field trips and activities off-campus.

The Summer Bus driver is responsible for following an established route and ensuring campers arrive to and from destinations in a timely fashion.

The Driver is responsible for ensuring the vehicle (van or bus) is operating safely at all times.


Essential Functions

  • Drives a school transportation vehicle on a designated route in accordance with an established time schedule
  • Safely transports students and teachers to field trips to various locations. Some locations are local to Delaware, others in the surrounding tristate area.
  • Maintains order of passengers to commute safely.
  • Ensures vehicle is operating safely at all times. Reports any mechanical issues or potential safety concerns to supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures vehicle has all needed supplies such as: gas, oil, fluids, safety materials.
  • Perform basic maintenance (check tires, lights, and oil)
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
  • Completes daily milage logs
  • Daily communication with team and manager
  • Obey traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations
  • Other duties as assigned related to transportation

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current and valid driver's license with clean driving record and less that 5 points on their license.
  • Must hold a current and valid CDL license with "s" and "p" endorsements
  • Must hold a CDL license with air break endorsement or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum of 3 years experience driving a school bus.
  • Must be available to work 12 days a week between June 17th through August 9th. Opportunities beyond the summer may be available.
  • Approximate schedule will be flexible between the hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm 13 days a week between Monday and Friday. Trip schedules vary.
  • Must have current TB test (within 1 year) and be able to pass a background check
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
