    1. BASIC PURPOSE
    The purpose of the Housing & Food Program Specialist position is to work under the Housing Program Manager to coordinate the Rapid Rehousing (RRH) Program activities, provide case management to clients, oversee & guide client's progress with their service plan and coordinate the Fresh Choice Program.
    1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    2. Conduct intake and program eligibility for the RRH Program.
    3. Manage cases actively participating in the RRH Program.
    4. Remind and encourage clients to attend scheduled housing workshops.
    5. Assist clients in knowing how to be a good tenant and with looking for and obtaining affordable housing within their income level.
    6. Conduct home visits based on individual housing plans.
    7. Provide appropriate and time-limited services and supports available to families to allow them to stabilize in permanent housing.
    8. Respond to the unique needs of each family that is housed to ensure they remain in housing and enhance their wellbeing and self-determination.
    9. Refer clients who need additional assistance to appropriate agencies; prepare referral documents, confer with supervisor/co-worker regarding clients who need crisis assistance.
    10. Ensure that services provided are client-directed, respectful of individuals' rights to self-determination and voluntary.
    11. Recruit and engage landlords.
    12. Help families negotiate manageable and appropriate lease/rental agreements with landlords.
    13. Act as a liaison with landlords to assist with issues and/or disputes.
    14. Conduct housing inspections and follow-up with clients and/or landlords to ensure housing is properly maintained and/or necessary repairs are completed.
    15. Coordinate and conduct intake for the Fresh Choice Program.
    16. Maintain client files in the appropriate social service database and prepare monthly reports.
    17. Provide client referrals to other social service and community agencies.
    18. Coordinate food pantry inventory and maintain gifts-in-kind reporting.
    19. Assist corps officers and staff in coordinating seasonal programs.
    20. Maintain food pantry and office in a neat, organized and professional manner.
    21. Attend and complete all assigned social service trainings.
    22. Adhere to confidentiality standards
    23. Other duties as assigned
    24. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
    25. Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
    26. High degree of confidentiality
    27. Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army's mission
    28. Minimum two (2) years of social service/work and/or management experience preferred
    29. Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Publisher, Excel and Outlook preferred
    30. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    31. Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
    32. Excellent organizational skills
    33. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
    34. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    35. High school diploma
    36. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
    37. Must be 21 years or older
    38. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
    39. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
    40. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    41. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
    42. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
    43. Ability to reach overhead
    44. Ability to operate telephone
    45. Ability to lift up to 25-40 lbs.
    46. Ability to operate a computer
    47. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
    48. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
