- Provides addiction-related health and psychosocial assessments
- Assists with analyzing of patient/client health needs and establishes applicable treatment programs
- Provides individual and group treatment/therapy
- Consults unit staff in regard to diagnosis and treatment planning when appropriate
- Provides crisis intervention to align with clinical standards and programming
- Assigns patients/clients to special programs /or placements to meet health needs and/or legal requirements
- Provides proper clinical documentation per facility policy
- Communicates to advise, clinical staff on treatment planning and patient/client goals
- Helps family members understand their role in the recovery process and assists with coping and family-related issues
- Modifies treatment programs as necessary based off observations
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work or public health required
- Current license or certificate in addictions/substance abuse counseling in the state of assignment required
- Experience in behavioral health guidelines, to include behavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, clinical management of patients with mental illness and / or substance abuse issues preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
