Job Summary:


Program Support Specialist will assist in overseeing multiple schools or travel from site to site to provide support to Site Coordinators, when absent or on leave.

While the program Support Specialist is on site, they will manage all major functions of program quality and student experience including but not limited to program design and planning, program marketing, student recruitment, attendance tracking and forecasting, staff selection, professional development, program finances, stakeholder relationships, and compliance requirements.


Position Responsibilities:


  • Work at various program sites to provide leadership and support in all program functions; report to work site location is set at the discretion of the Director of Programs.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including but not limited to acquiring supplies used for the afterschool program, review, and complete program compliance paperwork, monitor enrollment and student rosters, process timesheets, enter attendance in data systems, update budget trackers, and other assigned administrative duties
  • Manage program quality metrics, including but not limited to conducting staff performance evaluations, implement student recruitment and student retention strategies, survey students for programming interests, meet student program attendance goals, monitor age appropriate curriculum development and facilitation, and stakeholder relationship management
  • Ensure program is aligned with school day objectives and follows California Expanded Learning Quality Standards
  • Lead and coordinate creative program marketing and recruitment efforts via advertisement campaigns that are visible on campus and appropriately showcase program offerings
  • Supervise, train, and coach staff members on best practices for activity facilitation and student engagement
  • Review and provide feedback on lesson plans created by staff; supervise all activities that occur during after school program; facilitate activities as needed
  • Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to educating and empowering youth to reach their fullest potential
  • Coordinate a safe, engaging, and collaborative program for the number of students the program is required to service; meet year end attendance goals according to program requirements
  • Have extensive knowledge of age appropriate classroom and behavior management skills and age appropriate activity and curriculum planning
  • Provides training and development to employees, during introductory employment period and ongoing at routine staff development meetings, Leaders in Training Program, and during site reviews
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills/Qualifications:


  • 3 years of after school programming operations in a school setting or youth recreational facility preferred
  • Availability to work set programming hours including before school hours, after school hours, and weekends
  • Tech savvy and proficient in with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and data entry systems
  • Previous experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders' parents, students, staff, administrators
  • Strong, clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated professional attitude, approach, and commitment to integrity
  • Ability to travel to Los Angeles County Schools including the San Fernando Valley
  • Experience in working with ethnic and culturally diverse communities
  • Energetic, motivated, outgoing personalities strongly desired
  • TB Test Clearance & Live Scan Clearance (Background check)
  • Bilingual in Spanish/ English preferred

Education and Experience:


  • BA preferred in education, youth development, physical education or a related field
  • Experience in education, tutoring, running community programs/ events, student recruitment and staff development is required
  • Minimum of threefour years' experience as a site coordinator in the expanding learning field, working with K12 grades
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a supervisor role
  • High School diploma
  • Spanish communication is desirable
