    Therapist (SIGN ON BONUS OF - Saint Louis, United States - Acadia Healthcare Inc.

    Description

    • Provides individual therapy sessions with assigned adolescent and adult patients. Partners with clients to identify and resolve complex or sensitive issues as related to their eating disorder. Eagerly engages clients in identifying issues, options, and desired outcomes. Develops a clear picture of the needs and best options from the client's perspective.
    • Maintains a schedule for sessions and meets with patients at frequency indicated by their current level of care.
    • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients, including rapport, therapeutic boundaries, and a working alliance towards with treatment goals.
    • Displays theoretical knowledge of CBT, DBT and family based therapies.
    • Consistently uses psychotherapeutic framework to conceptualize patient's struggles and to provide treatment.
    • Assists patients in setting and meeting treatment goals and identifying appropriate coping skills
    • Provide family therapy for assigned patients. Promotes cooperation and commitment to achieving treatment goals. Builds a constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and commitment to coordinating current and ongoing treatment.
    • Meets with families of adolescent patients a minimum of weekly, and meets with families of adults patients every other week or as clinically indicated.
    • Understands and utilizes a therapy modality for sessions with families.
    • Includes parents / guardians of adolescents in planning for transition and discharge.
    • Demonstrates ability to build rapport with families, and provides education regarding eating disorders and how to provide support to the loved one.
    • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans to facilitate patients' progress. Focuses on results and desired treatment outcomes and how best to achieve them. Looks for opportunities to help advance treatment and responds to treatment plan setbacks. Effectively communicates treatment plans to the patient, family and treatment team.
    • Develops treatment plans based on patients' identified problems and needs.
    • Updates treatment plans weekly with measurable objectives, therapeutic assignments, discharge planning, and notation of patients' progress.
    • Coordinates care with outpatient providers and support systems, including family members, school / educational professionals, and outpatient providers.
    • Contacts outpatient therapist upon admission to determine preferred method for updates, and provides ongoing updates with outpatient therapist.
    • Involves family as outlined in "Provides family therapy for assigned patients."
    • Assures adolescent patients and parents have contact with tutors to establish an educational plan.
    • Coordinate patients' discharge and / or transition between levels of care. Examines current patient progress, outcomes and challenges, to grasp, draw conclusions, and solve problems to provide the best continuity of care.
    • Works collaboratively with the discharge coordinator, patients and families to establish a discharge plan, including patients' completion of the Discharge Plan assignment.
    • In collaboration with the discharge coordinator communicates with the discharge plan to families, school /educational professionals, and outpatient providers, which includes dissemination of discharge packets within one week of discharge.
    • Communicates through email patients' discharge and /or transition between levels of care with McCallum Place employees.
    • Provides utilization review for assigned patients, and develops a plan for treatment working within the resources from insurance companies, patients, and families.
    • Facilitates group therapy and meal therapy weekly. Influences others to act in support of therapy. Ensures others grasp the purpose and benefits of the therapy. Tailors therapy sessions to the specific patient therapy group.
    • Maintains a group culture that ensures the safety of patients, which includes upholding the group expectations identified in the Patient Handbook.
    • Follows the group schedule, including starting and ending groups on time.
    • Develops, revises, and implements modules for group therapy, particularly as therapist learns new techniques, theories, etc. relevant to the group topic.
    • Provides support to patients during meal therapy, including assisting patients in setting meal goals, redirecting rituals or inappropriate behavior.
    • Facilitates post meal group, including assisting patients in processing struggles, identifying risks for ED behaviors, and assisting patients in identifying alternative coping strategies.
    • Communicates regularly with Direct Care staff regarding specific patient needs. Conveys ideas and facts verbally and in writing using language that will be best understood. Understands and learns from what others communicate.
    • Actively participates in team meetings.
    • Assists staff in understanding patients' special issues, as well as skills for providing care relevant to these issues.
    • Communicates safety concerns directly, as well as writing in patients' Kardexes.
    • Demonstrate commitment to advancing clinical skills and professional development through attendance of training.
    • Maintains license requirements by acquiring necessary continuing education units through training, public speaking, and home study options, as delineated by the state board.
    • Represents and formally delivers presentations as required at conferences, McCallum Place CEU events and seminars as required.
    • Attends and actively participates in Group Supervision meetings, trainings, and therapist meetings.
    • Attends annual safety training.
    • Completes McCallum Place required physical, and TB Testing
    • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals
    • Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect and compassion toward all patients, families, co-workers and the public as a representative of McCallum Place.
    o Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all patient information, which includes not speaking about patient information in public settings or non-private areas at McCallum Place (i.e. community space, office with a door open, etc.).

    o Demonstrates ability to work in a cooperative manner as a team member.


    o Demonstrates ability to problem solve issues with coworkers and refrain from involvement in negative talk regarding patients or coworkers.

    o Communicates concerns regarding policies, working conditions, patients, or coworkers through appropriate channels.


    • Demonstrates dependability to include attendance and punctuality.
    • Takes initiative and ownership of issues.
    • Represents willingness/enthusiasm to create, embrace and facilitate change
    Additional Duties and Responsibilities


    • Complete other duties as assigned by Leadership
    • Participate in administrative on-call.
    • Education and Experience Requirement
    • Master's in human services field.
    • Licensed to provide clinical services (LPC, LCSW).
    • Experience with adolescents, adults and eating disorders.
    • Experience in cognitive, expressive or psycho educational therapies.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Crisis intervention and problem solving skills.
    • Annual Tuberculosis test required. Initial screening due within 14 days of hire.
    • Physical Demands
    • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk, climb stairs and drive possibly for extended periods.
    • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
    • Work is performed in an administrative office setting, and residential settings
    • Must possess the ability to provide physical restraint to the residents.
    • Must have visual, hearing and learning capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions described above.
