Description

The
IT Governance and Policy Specialist will drive the development and implementation of the IT governance framework for the ITS organization, specifically by conducting oversight of IT governance committee work.

The Specialist will act as a liaison with IT managers to ensure all aspects of projects comply with governance policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.

This role will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of IT policies and procedures, and ensure ongoing training and education on IT policies and best practices.

The role will be the main point of contact for IT governance and advises and ensures the controls used to mitigate business risks are properly designed, executed, and documented.

The Specialist will manage the administrative aspects of the IT governance committee to ensure the committee operates efficiently and effectively to meet its objectives.

The IT Governance and Policy Specialist will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling IT projects and programs in service of the institution's academic, research and service mission.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.
Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • 3 years experience working in one or more of the following fields: IT governance, computer science, computer information systems, etc. (required)
  • Experience in the identification, evaluation and documentation of process flows, risks, and controls. (required)
  • Experience with various IT technologies and systems, including cloud computing, networking, and cybersecurity. (required)
  • Experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (required)
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (required)
  • 5+ years experience working in one or more of the following fields: IT governance, computer science, computer information systems, etc. (preferred)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of IT governance principles, frameworks, objectives, and goals and significant experience developing effective techniques for deriving these objectives from IT initiatives. (required)
  • Knowledge of IT industry standards and best practices, including data security, privacy, and access control, as they relate to IT governance. (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (required)
  • Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (required)
  • Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. (required)
  • Strong demonstrated problemsolving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (required)
  • Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas, including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Is able to work with agility in a fastpaced environment. (required)
