EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe VP, Business Development Officer - (BDO) will be responsible for developing new referral sources, growing existing partnerships, and participating in approved community events for the purpose of originating commercial loans. The BDO will identify the structure of the appropriate loan products, perform preliminary credit analysis, and collect and review all minimum required documents, additional financials, and other documentation as necessary for both the business and individual borrower(s) to submit the initial packaged request to the Credit Team. Business Development Officers are change agents; passionate about ensuring that small businesses across our community have access to safe and affordable capital.
ABOUT LENDISTRY
Lendistry is the country's largest minority-led and technology-enabled small business and commercial real estate lender with Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity (CDE) certification. We are a national employer whose mission is to provide economic opportunities and progressive growth for small business owners and their underserved communities as a source of financing and financial education.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•Ensure that strategic prospecting skills are employed daily with tactics executed on a consistent basis to drive results.
•Consistently reach out to target prospects to ensure loan pipelines are maintained at required levels to achieve funding goal.
•Perform market research to identify new opportunities and engage with financial executives and other centers of influence to establish strategies for lead generation.
•Use knowledge of loan products, educational resources, and other services to build relationships with small business owners and generate new loan applications.
•Proactively develop and/or leverage profitable connections with Centers of Influence (COIs), Bankers, and Lendistry approved Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs or commercial brokers) that result in consistent funded credit referrals.
•Develop and deliver sales presentations to potential borrowers.
•Maintain the highest degree of customer satisfaction and professionalism (e.g., tone, voice inflection, word choices).
•Build and maintain strong rapport and working relationships with all staff to ensure efficiencies are achieved and customer experience remains a high priority.
•Participate in community activities and networking events that support the Lendistry mission.
•Adhere to all lending, communication, and risk management guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational soundness.
•Regular attendance during business hours and reliable punctuality are essential functions of this position, and conformance with Lendistry's time and attendance policy is a key responsibility of the employee.
•Maintain thorough understanding of loan products, guidelines, and minimum required documents.
•Be proficient in outsourcing requirements and refer as appropriate.
•Review loan application packages for completeness and eligibility.
•Effectively utilize Salesforce to capture all customer information and activity including contact information, product need and complete ISQ, and effectively assign all tasks for follow-up to create an outstanding customer experience throughout the sales process.
•Continue to be an active and engaged learner availing yourself of all training, meetings, management coaching, communications, and internal partnerships.
PROFICIENCIES
•Demonstrated ability to build a book of business within emerging territories.
•Exposure to business credit underwriting is preferred.
•SBA credit experience preferred.
•Strong relationship management skills; demonstrate strong tactical business development and negotiation skills.
•Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in pursuit of business priorities.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals at all levels, (internally and externally).
•Strong PC skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•Proven track record of demonstrating strong business judgment.
•Familiarity with concepts, procedures, and processes in lending industry.
•Strong sense of urgency, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
•Ability to effectively develop and maintain strong business relationships.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field and 7 years experience in small business and commercial lending is preferred or 15 years' experience in small business and commercial lending is preferred.
•Knowledge of business fundamentals and the business acumen to perform basic analysis of Business and Personal Tax Returns, Interim Financials, Bank Statements and Debt Schedules.
SALARY RANGE
