Your Role:

The Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Per Diem plays a vital role in applying the nursing process, overseeing clinical practices, engaging in research, offering consultative services, liaising both internally and externally, providing education, exhibiting leadership skills, and managing patient care from preventive stages through discharge. This position calls for independent decision-making as well as collaboration with certified/eligible physicians to deliver expert patient care.

Reports to the medical director and chief nursing officer (CNO) as an essential part of the medical team.
Adheres to the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures outlined in the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section.
Delivers personalized care aligned with CSHS standards, encompassing Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, Nursing and Patient Care plans, Performance Improvement and Patient Education Plans, Professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and institutional policies.
Provides sensitive care considering the age and developmental stages of the patient population, spanning from neonates to geriatrics.
Assesses the specific needs and safety requirements of different age groups, implementing suitable measures to ensure a secure environment and carrying out appropriate evaluations based on developmental milestones.
Participates in resuscitations in the delivery room and assesses unstable newborns in the mother-baby unit potentially needing NICU transfer.

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year as a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in PEDS – Pediatrics Neonatology.

Previous experience in Labor and Delivery.

Three (3) or more years of nursing experience.

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Must hold a Master of Nursing Degree.

Graduate of a California Board of Registered-approved Nurse Practitioner program.

Current California Registered Nurse and Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) License (or eligible to acquire).

National Certification as a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP).

Active DEA license and Furnishing Number.

Current BLS and PALS certifications.
