The Purchasing manager is responsible for the vendor term negotiations, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements.

Must have a strong mechanical and technical negotiation skills.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop competitive to drive cost reduction initiatives with the global supply base, while meeting capacity and quality requirements
  • Ensure the coordination of the physical flows of materials, products, and tools in order to satisfy the continuous and constant demands of the services of customers and suppliers
  • Estimate the quantities of products to order based on the state of stocks, flow forecasts, the periodicity of orders and delivery times from suppliers
  • Ensure receipt of orders
  • Set up delivery schedules for suppliers
  • Knowledge in precisely the needs of the perimeter, their evolution and their scheduling
  • Follow up on orders until delivery
  • Supervise any disputes
  • Continuously update the supplier database by integrating new market data
  • Be a force of proposal on the evolution of inventory management criteria: increase / decrease in breakage thresholds and launch quantity
  • Be a force of proposal on the stock management of new products or stop management on stock of poorly sold references
  • Execute the program and supplier management indicators and keep them up to date
  • Ensure customer reporting, both in terms of product delivery planning and activity reporting
  • Manage supplier contracts and longterm agreement with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and future business needs align
  • Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chains, logistics and regional teams) to achieve plan, ensure adequate cycle time to procure materials and escalate critical materials from supplier based to meet customer demands
  • Leads teams in identification of opportunities to meet objectives for supplier cost reduction, creation of value, supply chain improvement and customer satisfaction
  • This position will execute events across multiple categories and is a key position in delivering cost savings targets
  • Will need to network across our company and build strong relationships with stakeholders and develop negotiation strategies which help support their business

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in Machine shops, procurement, and sourcing
  • Ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple priorities
  • Strong knowledge in reading blueprints and technical publications
  • Experience performing purchasing operations that involve planning, coordinating or evaluating the procurements actions required to support multiple projects
  • Knowledge of planning, programming, budgeting and executing of purchasing and supply chain programs

COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 24 years of Purchasing related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the abovementioned tasks
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in a machine shop environment
  • Knowledge of Metalmechanic manufacturing processes
  • Technical drawing reading skills
  • Technical capacity and the ability to provide technical guidance
  • Initiative and results driven
  • Bilingual (English-French or English-Spanish)
