Summary/Objective:


The Motive Service Technician Level I is responsible for basic service and installation of Motive Power Battery systems and chargers.

The role requires local territory travel to customer locations to troubleshoot errors and communicate proper battery care to the consumer.

Occasional overnight travel may be required.


Responsibilities:

Test and evaluate customer's batteries in a timely manner, while maintaining a safe working environment
Prepare evaluation reports and make repairs on-site at customer location when possible
Prepare batteries and chargers for shipment, including rentals, demos, RMA, new and returns
Perform cell teardowns as required by warranty
Maintain organization of shop, warehouse, and inventory of parts, supplies, and cells
Promote the sale of products and services provided by the company while on-site at customer location
Travel to customer locations as assigned by Service Coordinator
Prepare scrap batteries for shipment
Load and unload shipments
Complete paperwork regarding services performed as required within ServiceMax


Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Two year technical degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education preferred.
  • One to three years of battery industry or related experience and preferably in a field service environment.
  • Forklift Training Certification a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 150lbs, with assistance of equipment on a daily to weekly basis

Skills and Ability:


  • A desire to work independently onsite at customer locations.
  • The ability to quickly analyze situations and make a decision, and provide immediate feedback to the customer.
  • Previous customer service experience in field support.
  • A basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Previous experience working with hand and power tools.
  • Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
  • Able to complete in a timely, neat and accurate manner all customer reports including work orders.
  • Must be able to do over night travel on occasion.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record with mínimal traffic violations. Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be proficient with Smart Phone, Laptop, and Tablet operation.

Knowledge:


  • 2+ Years experience working with industrial batteries.

Interface:


This position will have regular contact with end user customers, including lift truck dealer Sales, Operations and customer service personnel.

Internal contacts include Sales Managers, Branch Managers, Sales Staff, Production, Operations and Customer Service


Travel:

The Field Service Technician is primarily at end user customers on a daily basis.
