Position Summary
Environmental Equipment Operator performs manual work involving more difficult housekeeping tasks on an assigned shift in the hospital. Employees in this classification perform heavy manual work involving a variety of housekeeping tasks.


Duties & Responsibilities
Follow floor care cleaning procedure for automatic scrubber to remove dirt accumulated on floor. Follow cleaning procedure for maintenance of all automated equipment. Once the floor is cleaned follow floor care procedure for the ultra burnished to polish the floor. Operates the equipment in a safe way to prevent accidents. Detects malfunctions while operating the equipment and report problem to supervisor. Properly assemblies pads and brushes to obtain maximum machinery efficiency. Determine proper pad pressure adjustment for more efficient cleaning and polishing.

Performs complete range of hard surface floor care including:
dusting, sweeping, damp mopping, and burnishing/buffing. Performs complete range of carpet care including; vacuuming, spot cleaning and bonneting. Cleans, disinfects and arranges furniture and fixtures as required. Spot cleans and damp wipes walls, window sills and overhead lights as required. Performs other related environmental duties as required, including cleaning of all patient units. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education
High School diploma is strongly preferred.


Experience
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.


License/Certification
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.


Life Support Certification Requirements

BLS

ACLS

PALS

NRP

Knowledge/Skill/Abilities

Physical Demands
Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds.

Must be able to lift, push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.

Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as:
operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature. Certain jobs in this group may have specific physical abilities requirement.
