POSITION:

Teachers; Field Effectiveness Managers for the NYC Teaching Fellows Program; Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (Approximately 15 positions available)


LOCATION:


Remote and In-Person:
Various summer school locations participating as Teaching Academies for the Summer 2024 NYC Teaching Fellows Program


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently employed as a licensed, tenured, and appointed teacher by the NYC Public Schools, with a minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience.

SELECTION CRITERIA:


Teaching and Instructional Expertise

  • Knowledge and experience in developing new teachers.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe and analyze teaching practices and align them to the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide feedback that supports the growth and development of novice teachers and coaches.

Analytical and Communication Skills

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis to support decisionmaking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Time Management and Collaboration

  • Exceptional time management, including the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fastpaced setting.
  • Evidence of successful teamwork or cooperative settings.

Professional Development and Educational Knowledge

  • Experience in providing professional development or training to teachers.
  • Familiarity with educational research and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate effective meetings and professional learning communities.

Problem-Solving and Equity

  • Demonstrated ability to problemsolve and make informed decisions in complex educational contexts.
  • Experience in supporting diverse learners and addressing equity issues in education.
  • 1+ years of experience in a teacher leadership role, such as Mentor Teacher, Lead Teacher, Cooperating Teacher, NYCTF Summer Staff, Teacher Development Facilitator, Peer Collaborative Teacher, Model Teacher, Master Teacher, Collaborative Coach, or Lead Coach.
  • Satisfactory performance in the Field Effectiveness Manager role in a previous season.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support approximately 40 Fellows across two Teaching Academies, fulfilling the following key role responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Teaching Academy Director to develop a structured observation schedule, guaranteeing that all Fellows undergo evaluation within the designated observation periods.
  • Informally observe Fellows while they teach.
  • Lead formal lesson observations across your assigned school sites using the NYCTF Summer Rubric.
  • Evaluate Fellows on core teaching skills.
  • Provide targeted, actionable feedback to Fellows that increases their effectiveness through coaching conversations.
  • Support Coaches in implementing interventions for struggling Fellows.
  • Identify Fellows in need of Performance Improvement Plans and collaborate with the Teaching Academy Director to assist or create individualized plans to help Fellows meet performance benchmarks during future gateway observations.
  • Monitor and track trends in Fellows' progress and professionalism; communicate with NYCTF staff about the progress of each Fellow.
  • Oversee operations and logistics at school sites, including transitions to remote learning when necessary.
  • Participate in training sessions for the role outside of school hours and throughout the summer.
  • Travel to two school locations in close proximity, using personal or public transportation as required.

WORK SCHEDULE:


  • Spring (June):
  • Attending virtual training Sessions outside of school hours for a total of 915 hours.
  • Related Summer 2024 hours will be advertised separately.
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.


SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
