Salary - $44,400 to $45,500 annually_

***: Coordinates and supervises a variety of violence prevention/intervention programs for youth and young adults at the recreation community centers and citywide.


SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Responsible for overseeing part-time and volunteer staff.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates violence prevention/intervention programs such as conflict resolution, gang affiliation, drug abuse, & alcohol abuse.
  • Develops, organizes, and implements a prevention curriculum for the youth at the recreation community centers.
  • Develops and supervises volunteer program to assist with prevention programs.
  • Offers suggestions and ideas and implements new programs to develop the violence prevention/intervention program continually.
  • Evaluates existing programs and makes necessary changes to maintain current needs and trends.
  • Publicizes programs through appropriate media and actively seek youth and young adults to participate in programs.
  • Works cooperatively with community agencies to enhance program development.
  • Assists with division and department special events as requested.
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates special events for recreation and community center, focusing on violence prevention/intervention.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.


EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two years of working experience in community event planning and programming.
  • Two years of previous working experience with children, teens, and young adults.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Excels in communications skills while working with youth and adults.
  • Working knowledge of City government preferred.
  • Schedule may vary including nights and weekends based on departmental needs.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:
Valid driver's license required.


EQUIPMENT:
Desktop and laptop computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine.
