The Montefiore Licensed Practice Nurse contributes standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement.

The Licensed Practical Nurse actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced score card performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.

They are committed to maintaining the standards of the practice of nursing and are responsible for the delivery of care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or elderly patient within their scope of practice.

They participate in performance improvement, research activities and maintain clinical expertise.

The LPN maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise, and demonstrates leadership skills. The LPN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides direct care for a population specific patient assignment reflective of current and changing status of patient.
Provides and maintains safe environment for patients/families through preventive and interventional measures.
Documents direct patient care as per MMC policies and procedures.
Participates, practices and promotes continuous quality improvement.
Communicates effectively with patients/families and members of the health care team.
Responsible and accountable for own practice.
Other clinical and patient care duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED
NYS license for Practical Nurse & current registration to practice as LPN
Minimum 1 year relevant work experience.
Basic Life Support
Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal.
Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system.
Demonstrated competence in performing and/or assisting with Urology outpatient procedures including: bladder scans, Cystoscopy, Urodynamics, urethral catheterization, prostate biopsy, and other specialized procedures.

Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
