Description
Quality Inspector
The Quality Inspector will be responsible for weld fit-up and welding inspection, measuring fabricated and machined components, blueprint and weld symbol interpretation, verifying raw materials and other products to ensure they meet production, safety and quality standards.
- Inspect all incoming parts
- Ensure material identification and traceability is maintained throughout the fabrication process
- Controlling and storage of NQA1 designated welding filler materials
- Witness weld fit ups identified by the weld map, record material heat numbers, welding wire, welder IDs, and welding procedures onto the welding log
- Verify gloveboxes and components are built and tested to the drawing and customer specifications
- Generate, use and complete weld maps and welding
- Visual weld inspections:Acceptance criteria for fit ups, in process, and final weld inspections
- Polishing and finish inspections: Assure the finished product is consistent and meets acceptance criteria
- Preproduction stud welding tests (NQA1):Before production welding, and with a similar set up, the first 2 weld studs are tested in compliance
- Stud welding documentation (NQA1):Record stud welding procedure, location, welder I.D., and heat number of the weld studs used on pressure related boundaries
- Dimensional Inspection reports (NQA1):When required by thecontract, measure and record the required critical dimensions
- RA map creation and RA readings:Replicate a picture of the glovebox assembly interior and exterior. Use a profilometer to measure the surface finish readings.
- Verify that Welding Log is complete. Gather all Certified Mill Test Reports (CMTR) from the materials of construction and verify compliance. Verify proper welding filler material and welder qualifications. Submit the weld map and welding log along with all associated CMTRs to Document Control who will place in the job file.
- Downflow booth component assembly inspections:Inspection of top and bottom plenums as well as all other fabricated assemblies. Use drawings to verify correct assembly and weld detail.
- Downflow booth final assembly inspections:Inspect assembled downflow booths. Ensure the booth is assembled properly, ensure no damage or scratches to wall panels and assemblies.
- Ensure all items beyond a manufacturer's expiration date or recommended shelf life are not in use or in stock
- Nonconformance reporting, completion, and material segregation:Report and assist in reporting nonconformances, red tagging and segregating nonconforming material, reinspection of repaired or reworked nonconforming items, follow up to confirm nonconformances are complete and compliant
- Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Quality Experience REQUIED: Strong background in quality audits, manufacturing, quality control, and quality inspection
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ability to obtain CWI certification required
- Previous manufacturing experience required
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures requires a high degree of knowledge of fabricating practices and procedures.
- Ability to perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
