THE POSITION:


The Department of Human Services, Norristown State Hospital provides dedicated, high-quality care to the people who call Norristown State Hospital home.

We are seeking hard-working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and caring individuals who are committed to providing exceptional care to our consumers.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

You will provide professional nursing care and treatment services. You will plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on standards of nursing practice and standards of patient care.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Per diem employment.
  • Work hours: Per diem employees work on an as needed/as available basis. Required to work one weekend per month, one major summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day), and one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's Day). May be scheduled up to 6 shifts per pay period based on availability and operational need.
  • PRN-RN orientation is 3 consecutive weeks on dayshift (1 week crisis response and 2 weeks nursing orientation). Additionally, you will be required to complete 3 day shifts, 3 evening shifts in civil and one day and evening in forensics in a do not count status similar to shadowing.
  • May be scheduled up to 6 shifts per pay period based on availability and operational need.
  • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:


  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:


  • PA residency requirement is currently
    waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
