Position Summary/Purpose of Position:


  • The Maryland Robotics Center (MRC) is an interdisciplinary research center in the Institute for Systems Research (ISR) within the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The Maryland Robotics Center (MRC) is seeking a highly organized professional with exceptional attention to detail.

The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of the Maryland Robotics Center (MRC) and is responsible for day-to-day management of the administrative, research and educational activities within the MRC
.

This includes but is not limited to (1) strategic planning for the center in conjunction with MRC faculty committees and advisory board, (2) overseeing the creation and administration of new undergraduate and graduate education initiatives, (3) managing the Pathways internship programs, (4) administering the MRC fellowship programs, (5) supporting the MRC's accreditation by the ARM Institute, (6) responsibility for the MRC publicity, including the website, social media, and the MRC biannual newsletter, and (7) coordination of MRC staff support.

MRC is an interdisciplinary research center that spans 9 departments.

The Center has a tenured faculty director and employs 2 full-time staff members, 1 full-time technical staff member, and students to manage all aspects of a fast-growing, successful research center that consists of over 47 faculty members, 3 multiuser research labs, an in-demand graduate program of over 200 students in robotics, and an undergraduate minor in robotics and autonomous systems.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Experience:


  • Seven or more years of related experience and two or more years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work towards improvements and efficiencies.
  • Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
