Job Summary

Under the direction of the Ward 86 Nurse Managers, the incumbent will perform work as a Registered Nurse in a primary care setting.

The incumbent will be responsible for nursing care, including, but not limited to, providing direct patient care, coordinating care, providing education and coaching for a panel of patients within an interdisciplinary team structure.

In addition to direct nursing care, the incumbent will participate in quality improvement initiatives, attend meetings, and sit on clinic committees as directed.

An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

Possession of a baccalaureate degree and the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and six months+ of clinical experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Experience working with patients living with HIV/AIDS and/or Substance Use Disorders (SUD)
Advanced knowledge of harm reduction principles and experience working within a harm reduction patient care model, such as syringe access programs
Minimum 12 months experience providing direct services administering injectable medications to People Living with HIV for treatment and people at risk for HIV aquisition for prevention

Preferred Qualifications

HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) Certification
Experience working with a harm reduction model in health care setting
Experience working with patients experiencing homelessness or unstable housing
Demonstrated ability to support people who use drugs or alcohol in a compassionate and stigma free way
