Lyons, an HVAC mechanical contractor, is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage assigned controls projects and obtain quality installations that are profitable for the company.

Our controls business throughout the Northeast U.S. market serves commercial, health care, institutional/higher education, and industrial clients.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Understand sequence of operations, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, control specifications and the cost effectiveness regarding installation costs
  • Develop strong internal relationships with Operations, Engineering, and Service Sales Groups.
  • Review contract terms and conditions with management on awarded projects.
  • Generate preliminary construction schedule. Complete projects within schedule restraints.
  • Attend various meetings throughout project, including handoff and design review.
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor a detailed construction plan on major jobs.
  • Influence other contractors to provide favorable conditions.
  • Negotiate acceptable sequences and durations for the work in the general construction schedule.
  • Provide all tools, equipment, materials and information necessary to effectively perform the work.
  • Prepare the budget breakdown for entry into the job cost system.
  • Responsible for timely and cost effective buy out of subcontracts and equipment. Establish and monitor purchasing and submittal records.
  • Effectively purchase or assist in the profitable purchasing of materials, equipment and subcontracts.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of scopes for subcontracts and negotiated agreements.
  • Provide accurate forecasts of costs to complete and cost at completion.
  • Audit subcontractors, equipment and material payment requisitions and monitor open Purchase Order report.
  • Expedite delivery and inspection of equipment and materials.
  • Manage subcontractors and communicate progress with the Customer.
  • Negotiate changes to subcontracts that are in the best interest of the Company.
  • Build and manage long term partnerships with targeted building owners, MEP consultants, and mechanical contractors to identify and evaluate Building Automation opportunities.
  • Check in with customer and advise of plan for service or preventive maintenance on electronic control system.
  • Collaborate between other parts of the Building Services business, Engineering and Construction teams to maximize the profitable business opportunities for the Company in all locations. Engage in crossselling wherever possible.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of accountability and team support at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferred or equivalent technical and industry experience.
  • Must have proven track record of on time and on budget project completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High energy level and optimistic outlook with a strong sense of urgency
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • The ability to work in a team environment
