The Floating Hospital welcomes individuals of all ages, from infants, school age children (5+), youth and adults.TFH is a Federally Qualified Health Center and the largest provider to homeless families living in family shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout all five boroughs.
Essential duties include:
- Professionally greets individuals, answers phones, and answers patients' questions.
- Liaises between the behavioral health providers and patients to coordinate schedules and create appointments.
- Assists with patient check in, verifying patient information, obtaining all clinic required signatures and paperwork (e.g., Consents
- Ensures previsit questionnaires are completed and assists patients with these as needed.
- Collects copayments and or deductibles at the timeofservice.
- Assists patients in understanding their insurance benefits and patient responsibilities, explaining any benefit memos,
- Confirms nextday appointments, verifies insurance benefits and obtains prior authorization as necessary for Behavioral Health
- Manages cancellations, finding best alternatives for all involved.
- Recalls patients who missed prior day's appointments to attempt to reschedule their visits.
- Collaborates with all departments to communicate effectively regarding patient flow, anticipating backlogs and proactively
- Conducts Pharmacy calls, order prescriptions/refills for patients upon request from psychiatric prescribers.
- Participates in weekly staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
We are in search of a scheduler who possesses a wealth of knowledge pertaining to NYS Medicaid Managed, Medicare, and Commercial Plans.
It is essential that they are able to engage with BH patients using a friendly and personable approach.
In addition, they must possess a minimum of two years of front desk/registration experience, as well as a comprehensive understanding of current health insurance plans.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record software (Athena Health) would be highly advantageous.
