Description

As the Manager of Quality and Reliability at Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality and reliability across our product lines.

Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, you will lead a team of quality and reliability engineers and technicians, overseeing all aspects of quality control, reliability testing, and failure analysis.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Quality Assurance_
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations for performance and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and track product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Reliability Testing_
  • Design and execute reliability testing protocols to assess the longterm performance and durability of our products under various operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including engineering and product development, to define testing requirements and standards for new product designs.
  • Analyze test data and results to identify areas for improvement and drive product reliability enhancements.
  • Failure Analysis_
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts to investigate product failures and identify underlying issues contributing to quality and reliability concerns.
  • Utilize analytical tools and techniques, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and thermal analysis, to diagnose failure mechanisms and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Document and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, including engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams, to facilitate timely resolution of quality issues.
  • Continuous Improvement_
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to implement best practices and process improvements that optimize quality and reliability outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of quality excellence and accountability throughout the organization, promoting a proactive approach to identifying and addressing qualityrelated challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance, reliability engineering, or a related field within the optoelectronics industry.
  • Strong understanding of quality management principles, reliability testing methodologies, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and reliability modeling software, such as Weibull analysis and accelerated life testing.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop team members and drive crossfunctional collaboration towards common quality and reliability objectives.
  • Bilingual Mandarin Chinese is required.

This position will be full time and on-site at our Sugar Land, Texas location.
