Billings Farm & Museum (BFM) is seeking individuals to join our team as Interpreters and Educators.BFM is located in the center of Woodstock, VT and is regarded as one of the finest outdoor history museums in the country.
Combining a fully operational Jersey dairy farm with educational exhibits and interactive programs and events, we are committed to providing education and enjoyment to visitors of all ages.
What are we looking for?The good news is that your training will teach you everything you need to succeed on the job.
But there are a few skills that you should have from the get-go:
- Love learning and sharing Vermont history and agriculture
- Enjoy engaging and connecting with people of all ages
- Like working in a team environment
- Professional and positive demeanor
- Effective communication skills
- Sharing stories about our 1890 Farm Manager's House and the people who lived there
- Answering visitor questions and sharing information about our farm animals
- Working with visitors in our gardens
- Demonstrating recipes and techniques in our historic and/or modern kitchens
- Facilitating educational programs and leading activities with children and adults
- Selling tickets, orienting visitors, and engaging with visitors in the gift shop
- We have parttime positions available with training starting in late May. Starting Memorial Day weekend, we are open seven days a week. From November-February, we are open weekends, holiday weeks and some weekdays for education programs. This position requires some weekend and holiday availability._
