Job Summary:
As a Crash Investigator, using a scientific approach, is responsible for quantifying accidents and determining how they occurred in all types of events, with most of the reconstructions being relative to defects.
Responsibilities:
- Perform accident site investigations and inspect vehicles involved in accidents.
- Document accident scenes using forensic documentation procedures.
- Inspect and analyze automotive parts or mechanical parts to determine the cause of failure.
- Interview occupants, witnesses, and experts.
- Determine the cause of accidents through analysis of evidence gathered from field surveys, specialized photography, vehicle damage profiling, scale replication, occupant motion (kinematics) analysis, video reenactment, field testing and reenactment of events, analysis of vehicle safety systems for proper functioning, and possible mechanical failure preceding a collision.
- Reconstruct vehicular accidents using engineering methodologies and reviewing materials (photographs, witness statements, depositions, police reports, medical and chiropractic records, etc.) to provide forensic conclusions.
- Perform computer analysis and calculations. Provide timely and accurate technical findings in both verbal and written form.
- Analysis of human injury resulting from vehicular accidents (automotive, motorcycle, trucking, etc.) and provide collision scene analysis.
- Write reports detailing the supporting documentation of the cause of an accident or collision.
- Provide expert witness testimony during court trials or court depositions.
- Retrieval and analysis of Event Data Recorders reports.
- Troubleshoot causes of mechanical failures or defects, such as safety restraint systems, braking, steering etc.
Travel as needed and, at times, with little notice.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bosch Certified EDR Technician
- Required.
- Bosch Certified EDR Analyst, preferred.
- ACTAR, preferred.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning.
- Thorough understanding of information technology procedures and practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to motivate groups of people to complete a project in a timely manner.
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.
- Determine the dynamics of a vehicle collision or personal injury.
- Prepare, review, and evaluate comprehensive reports related.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Establish effective working relationships with management, employees, employee representatives and the public representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Familiarization with accident reconstruction and animation software: VirtualCrash, EDCRASH, EDSMAC, HVE, ARAS360 or other CAD programs
- Preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, preferred.
- 3+ years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Pay:
$80, $100,000.00 per year
