Job Summary:


  • Installation and wiring of routers/switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Avaya PBX Moves, Adds, and Changes.
  • Mobile fleet field communication installations including pedestals, mobile radios, and network carrier equipment.
  • Effectively identify and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience:


Associate Telecom Tech:0-2+ years' experience.


Telecom Tech: 3+ years demonstrated experience.

Experience in one or more of the following for each level:

  • Working knowledge of 4-wire data circuits, T-1 circuits, POTS lines, fiber circuits, MPLS and other LAN/WAN data circuits.
  • Working knowledge of DC plant 48 and 135v systems, along with the associated grounding and connection requirements.
  • Skilled in the use of T1 transmission test sets, BERT test set, LAN and wireless testing, and fiber optic test equipment.
  • Skilled in the termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types to include fiber, CAT5/
  • Familiarity with color coding requirements for cable identification, terminating cables on 66m blocks, 110 block, and wire wrap/DSX panels.
  • Ability to work with and program/install Channel Banks.
  • Ability to program, test and troubleshoot 2way radios in mobile vehicles as well as handheld units.
  • Must be safety and environmentally conscious as well as detailed oriented.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 45 pounds alone.
  • Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Education Requirements:

High School diploma or G.E.D. required.


Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience
or, military experience with 5 years of demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.


Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description:

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
