The Department of Hematology and Oncology with Palliative Medicine (Director: Prof. Dr. med. Anke Reinacher-Schick) at the St.

Josef Hospital location, Ruhr University Bochum Hospital, is a well-known and innovative specialist department with high performance in the region, covering the entire spectrum of internal oncology and hematology (except for stem cell transplantation) with 75 beds, including 7 beds in the palliative unit.

Annually, over 4,000 patients are treated as inpatients and outpatients. The department is part of the Oncology Center of Ruhr University Bochum. The scientific focus is on translational and clinical studies in the field of visceral oncology as well as diversity medicine in cooperation with the Institute for Diversity Medicine of Ruhr University Bochum (Prof. Dr. med. Marie von Lilienfeld-Toal).
