Description

The New American Grill needs a solid human being to take a position in the kitchen of a successful operation that has been operating with steady growth for 20 years.

Approximately 90% of responsibilities are BOH, and the remaining attention devoted to supervising FOH operations.


The position is a dynamic and demanding role requiring well-honed line skills, the ability to delegate and lead by example, as well as produce impeccable casual cuisine at alarming rates of speed.

He/She must be able to work long hours under demanding conditions as well as the occasional catering event.

  • Must possess solid line skills in every station from dishpit to sauté. This cannot be stressed enough. We have an open kitchen that cranks out casual cuisine with an emphasis on perfection and presentation. Alck of experience can be compensated for with an ability to learn new skills and take coaching and direction.
  • Must be capable of producing consistently high quality cuisine in a timely manner with a pride and sincerity in working to exceed guest expectations.
  • Able to offer support to kitchen leadership with fresh ideas toward menu development and presentation while ALSO producing tried and true "favorites" the way they have been for over a decade.
  • Able to take direction and work independently with appropriate time management skills and good follow through/completion of tasks.
  • Skilled in sharing expertise with others (directing less experienced cooks/kitchen personnel) and ready to further develop new culinary skills and experiences.
  • Adept at providing clear and friendly communication skills; including giving direction, fielding questions, and providing clarification in a supportive and positive tone.
  • Able to exert strong organizational skills with efficient and safe management of work station and the consistent ability to work cleanly and neatly.
  • Knowledgeable of basic kitchen and food safety procedures including proper use of equipment and handling and storing of foods.


We are a bustling, clean, bright and open kitchen in a family run establishment that bangs out quality food and has fun doing it.


We listen to loud music, occasionally say bad words and have no room on our team for slackers, slobs or chronic complainers.


The compensation and ability for growth in this position are directly dependent on the work ethic and attitude of the hired individual, as future endeavors abound.

Minimum 2 years kitchen experience required.

A Culinary Arts Degree is preferred, but not required under specific circumstances


Pay:
$40, $70,000.00 per year
