Director of Logistics

Summary:

As the Director of Logistics at Holly Poultry, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations.

Your dynamic, hands-on management and strategic leadership will ensure the efficient and timely delivery of our products while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Planning: _
  • Set clear goals and performance metrics, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations, such as ontime delivery, inventory turnover, and delivery costs.
  • Recommend process improvements and enhancements to streamline operations, increase throughput, improve accuracy, and add value to the customer.
  • Optimize transportation routes and modes to maximize fleet asset utilization, minimize costs, and meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align logistics strategies with overall business objectives and growth targets.
  • Leadership: _
  • Directs daytoday activities across the warehouse and logistics network, including ensuring employee safety, inbound/outbound shipment planning and processing, physical inventory control, freight planning and handling, transportation routing management and execution.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development while hiring top talent to improve the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, Production, Warehousing, Transportation, and Accounting) to maximize profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the logistics department.

Warehouse Management:

  • Manage warehouse operations, including storage, picking, packing, and shipping of products.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology solutions and industry best practices to streamline operations, manage inventory levels, and improve order fill rate in addition to accuracy.
  • Compliance and Safety:_
  • Prioritize safety in the workplace by conducting safety audits & safety observations, documents, and address root cause of incidents and near misses and encourage a safety orientated culture throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and industry standards for food safety and product quality.
  • Ensure all vehicle and material handling maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner and preventive maintenance processes are in place.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:


  • 5+ years in warehouse and transportation environment experience.
  • 5+ years in leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals.
  • 2+ years in foodbased company or related field.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience working with warehouse management systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate crossfunctionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for food safety, transportation, and warehousing.
  • Proven ability to multitask and think on your feet.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced rapidly changing environment.
