About the Department
Bonhams' Jewelry department is built upon exceptional expertise.

Bonhams has more jewelry auctions in the US than any other auction house and has broken several world records, creating new global price points.

Our busy and dynamic team of Specialists is made up of qualified gemmologists, jewelry historians and connoisseurs, who are up to date on market trends and regularly collaborate with our global Jewelry teams in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

We work closely with other Bonhams departments, from Designer Handbags and Watches to Contemporary Art, to cross-market items to established clients and new collectors.


About the Role


The Post-Sale Coordinator is an integral role in the expert department, supporting the Specialists in the successful delivery of auctions as well as the day to day running of the department.

The Post-Sale Coordinator for the Jewelry department will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of the auction for our buyers following the closing of the online weekly auctions.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Pre-Sale Coordinator to obtain buyers' key information relevant for invoicing and postsale shipping process.
  • Engage in cashiering responsibilities recording payments accurately, balancing sales and handling cash where necessary.
  • Manage client's accounts, updating internal systems with client details and ensuring appropriate ID is on file before releasing property for shipping or collection.
  • Fulfil the requests for inhouse packing & shipping of all Jewelry lots in a quick and efficient manner to provide buyers with tracking information.
  • Coordinate with third party shippers to obtain quotes for international shipments and ensure the quick fulfilment of requests for shipping.
  • Oversee the collection of sold lots from our Los Angeles office ensuring that the necessary release paperwork is completed.
  • File claims for loss and damage liaising between internal departments and the client to gather details and generally assist with the claims process.
  • Support buyers with after sale inquiries and chase outstanding invoices to receive settlement.
  • Be flexible with your schedule, as this role may require support during special events and sale previews.
In addition to the tasks and responsibilities listed, other duties may be assigned by manager.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 year's relevant work experience
  • Comfortable working in a fastpaced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Great attention to detail and consistent, proactive, internal and external communication
  • Excellent demonstration of firstclass customer service skills and experience dealing with a diverse range of people
  • A positive team player who is able to maintain knowledge of departments, colleagues, names and titles of senior management and executive officers, as well as branch locations
  • Possess a genuine interest and thorough knowledge of art history and art market
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Outlook and database software
  • Must be flexible to cover a fluid and growing sales schedule, inclusive of evenings and weekend

  • Excellent communication in all modes with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage workflow and priorities in a fastmoving environment
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to support Departments and teams outside of your core responsibilities
  • 12 years in an administrative position (not necessarily from an auction background)
