    Description
    Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT or CVT) - Advanced Imaging

    Wake Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Full-time Veterinary Technician skilled in Advanced Imaging.

    Our mission is to provide unparalleled and compassionate veterinary care by offering individualized client education, comprehensive preventive care, advances technological services, specialty surgical services, and emergency interventions to provide pets with the long and happy lives they deserve.


    Schedule:
    Day shift hour shifts) and on call every other weekend.

    Veterinary Assistant - Advanced Imaging Duties:
    Assist with the execution of Computed Tomography (CT), digital radiographs and ultrasound imaging.
    Follow direction for positioning, and sedating patients to capture clear CT images, digital radiographs, and ultrasound.
    Obtain patient histories, maintain accurate medical records, and provide detailed patient discharge summaries.
    Triaging each patient depending on severity and time of arrival.
    Safely restrain patients for procedures.
    Prepare patients for ultrasound, radiographs, and transfer to other departments of the hospital.
    Proficient in venipuncture and IVC placement.
    Preparation of patients, instruments, equipment, and medications.
    Monitor patients during anesthesia or while sedated.
    Provide a positive experience and ensure our patients and clients receive the highest quality care.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Skills/Abilities

    Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
    Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
    Must possess patience and empathy to address client concerns.
    Ability to work effectively with imaging equipment, veterinary medical equipment, computers, and electronics.
    Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
    Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
    Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary


    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to lift patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
    Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
    Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the shift.


    Education & Experience:
    Prior advanced imaging experience required.
    Veterinary experience required. Specialty/emergency experience a plus.
    Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
