The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full time Contract Research Associate / Analyst to work on Community-Based Prevention Research and Resource Development Activities


Duties include:

  • Collaborate with Project leadership to develop and manage evaluation assessments and conduct qualitative field work.
  • Oversee communication with Prevention and Early Intervention countylevel providers from across California who are working with California Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS).
  • Work with Project Leads to analyze data using thematic analysis and prepare regular reports for funders.
  • Coordinate communication with communitybased pilot providers, collect qualitative, survey, and observational data, and prepare it for analysis.
  • Manage all data collection evaluation activities and write summary reports.
  • Manage the research dissemination, technology transfer, educational, and technical assistance events.
  • Support technical needs of the project including gathering and preparing content for website and repository.
  • Prepares, edits and modifies documents including research reports, manuscripts, presentations and proposals.
  • Prepare travel reimbursements as needed.
  • Develop presentations using online search engines of research articles, pictures, and other electronic media to make presentations more interesting and appealing to audiences.
  • Maintain research dissemination activity.
  • Other duties as assigned. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is $ $53.40 hourly. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is about $ $32.00 hourly.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience collecting and interpreting empirically validated and researchbased substance use and mental health prevention information to be useful to substance abuse treatment practitioners in an educational/training setting.
  • Ability to track projects according to multiple dimensions and factors to produce errorfree and comprehensive reports.
  • Experience conducting library searches to identify recent researchbased publications and other resources.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with state and countylevel staff, and university professionals.
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly, using discretion and sensitivity, as well as appropriate grammar to obtain and convey information to and from the public and to staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members of all levels.
  • Ability to operate advanced computers with speed and demonstrated accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and other required software.
  • Expertise in the use of PowerPoint including creation and formatting of slides as well as incorporation of audio and visual media and animation effects.
  • Organizational skills to maintain data collection records and coordinate other tasks, as required.
  • Skill in performing with frequent interruptions, as a part of a team, and the ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to proofread work before submitting as final.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and to problem solve as appropriate and possess the ability to think logically in high demand situations.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekend and evening hours.
  • Willingness to travel to conferences, meetings, and pilot research sites across California.
  • Skill in approving and processing online travel vouchers and other reimbursements

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a substance abuse, mental health, or primary carerelated research environment.
  • Skill in using the University's travel and reimbursement systems. Skill in preparing reports, addressing issues resulting from travel, mileage, and reimbursement activity.
