    Job Summary


    The Staff Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, and referral information of a clinical nature through direct patient care to children referred to the University Developmental Assessment Clinics (UDAC).

    UDAC programs include the Child Development Program, the Neonatal Follow-up Program, and the Heart Center Neurodevelopmental Program. Clinics are held in Salt Lake City and Lehi at Primary Children's Outpatient Services Center and also through telehealth.

    This position will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Pediatricians and Nurse Practitioners, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Registered Nurses, and other Psychologists to provide assessments and diagnosis to children who have or are at high risk for developmental problems.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions


    • Provide direct psychological evaluations to patients referred to the University Developmental Assessment Clinics, working primarily with the Neonatal Follow-up Program, Child Development Program, and Heart Center Neurodevelopmental Program. Participate in weekly care conferences and staffing meetings.
    • Perform intake and standardized developmental assessments, evaluate patients to determine potential diagnostic conditions and treatment plan. Provide feedback, support and advice to families regarding developmental and behavioral issues.
    • Collaborate with the University of Utah, school districts, and community agencies and departments. Prepare reports for parents and other agencies.
    • Train and supervise pre-doctoral psychology interns, post-doctoral psychologists, and practicum students.
    • Assist in working within support areas as assigned by UDAC Director.
    • May also participate in longitudinal outcome research by performing assessments with other University Hospital programs (e.g., Pediatric Neonatology).
    • Work as a strong team member with UDAC psychologists and other UDAC team members. Participate and support quality initiatives.
    Clinical duties consist of several clinic sessions per week, (i.e., performing assessment and diagnosis). Clinics are both in person and virtual.

    • This position involves intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects while providing patient care to those with psychiatric conditions.
    Minimum Qualifications

    Required

    Ph.
    D or Psy.
    D.

    degree from an APA accredited graduate program in counseling, school or clinical psychology or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

    Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.

    One year experience in psychotherapy, group or family therapy within a clinical setting.

    Preferred

    Experience with hospital- based psychological practices (inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and / or outpatient).

    Experience with individual, family, and group psychotherapy; and a variety of assessment experiences including intellectual, neuropsychological, and affective/behavioral assessment.

    Licensed for two years or more, and experience, training, or interest in providing clinical supervision to interns and residents.

    Completion of an APA-approved doctoral internship.

    This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.

    • Experience (or willingness to learn) with assessment and treatment of developmental conditions (i.e. Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Fourth Edition, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition, etc).
    • Specialization (or willingness to learn) in the assessment and treatment of early childhood neurodevelopmental conditions (i.e., autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability).
    • Assist the psychology team in program development and evaluation skills.
    • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills, gets along well with team and patients.
    • Comfortable evaluating patients in both in-person setting as well as virtual setting.
    • Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
