Duties:
The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.
This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest.
As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran.
This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community.
This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to Honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being.
Duties include, but are not limited so:
- Providing chiropractic care including adjustment, manipulation, mobilization, and manual therapy consistent with the core curriculum of Council on Chiropractic Education accredited programs.
- Ordering of diagnostic studies such as standard diagnostic plain film radiologic examinations to include spine, pelvic, skull, rib series, and chest (posterioranterior (PA) and lateral).
- Ordering or providing other treatment modalities such physical modalities, ergonomic instruction, posture management, orthotics, supportive bracing/taping, and counseling/education on body mechanics, nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, and hygiene.
- Ordering clinical laboratory studies such as blood tests and urinalysis. Ordering other appropriate tests such as electrodiagnostic studies.
- Provide acupuncture services.
- Supervise and teach other chiropractors, chiropractic students and other trainees.
- Referral to appropriate provider when chiropractic is deemed inappropriate or when patient conditions outside the scope of chiropractic care are suspected or detected through examination or because of diagnostic testing.
- The acupuncturist role includes stimulation of specific points along the skin of the body using needles with or without the addition of electric stimulation.

- All chiropractors need to follow departmental and VHA policies for leave and attendance and will work within Title 38 appointment guidelines.
- Leave should be requested in as much advance as possible to minimize disruption to patient care service All unscheduled absences must be properly communicated.
- Timely documentation is necessary in all areas in accordance with departmental policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. All documentation should be entered by the provider into the medical record directly. Prohibited abbreviations should not be used.
- Quality of care should be able to always meet professional standards.
- All chiropractors will always work within their privileges.

Work Schedule:7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm, additional information may be provided during interview process.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
