The underwater ship husbandry (UWSH) Coordinator - Virginia is responsible for coordinating special tasks and delivery orders (DOs), and also for tracking DO funding in the UWSH Developmental area.

The UWSH Coordinator also engages with the issuance of task/delivery orders for UWSH projects. Monitor and manage day-to-day UWSH project activities, ensuring timely and effective completion. Collaborate with the financial team to estimate costs, negotiate contracts, and manage project budgets.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervises and coordinates UWSH operations in alignment with U.S. Navy guidelines and standards, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Ensures compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations during UWSH activities.
  • Manages and maintains an inventory of UWSH equipment, ensuring availability and readiness.
  • Oversees the development of new UWSH equipment and systems, including modifications and upgrades.
  • Facilitates negotiations for supplies and services related to UWSH activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Undergraduate degree or higher from an accredited university and 10 years of experience in the management of specialized marine or industrial shipyard or repair equipment and procedure development and modification. Experience directly relating to underwater ship repair techniques and equipment is preferred. Absent a degree, 15 years of experience is required.
  • Background and experience in financial management, subcontract management, and negotiations for supplies and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of new equipment and systems, including familiarity with equipment maintenance procedures, cost estimating, design and modification of existing equipment, and configuration management procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate time and cost to design, develop/procure and test equipment, to perform procedure development, and to monitor scheduled performance against such tasks.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Department of Defense (DoD) personal security clearance at the 'SECRET' level.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment drug/alcohol screen and background check, as required.
