Founded in 1938, Stern Grove Festival is a free summer music festival in San Francisco.

Now entering its 87th season, the Festival draws close to 100,000 people during its eleven-week series of world class performances in the outdoor setting of Sigmund Stern Grove.

Past seasons have included artists including The Flaming Lips, San Francisco Symphony, Kool & the Gang, Phil Lesh & Friends, Patti Smith, Los Lobos, Bob Moses, Smokey Robinson, Ziggy Marley, Carlos Santana, Allen Stone, and Janelle Monae.

Job Summary:


We are seeking dedicated and vigilant individuals to join our team as Festival Overnight Security Officers for Stern Grove Festival.

As a Festival Overnight Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of attendees, staff, and property during overnight hours.

This position requires strong communication skills, keen observation abilities, and the ability to remain calm and composed in potentially high-pressure situations.


Availability and Commitment:


  • Hiring priority goes to staff who can work most or all of the dates:
  • Concerts: Saturdays from June 22 to August 23 & Friday August 22nd, 2024
  • Orientation: June 2nd, 2024

Responsibilities:


  • Patrol festival grounds during overnight hours to monitor for any signs of suspicious activity, vandalism, or other security concerns.
  • Enforce festival rules and regulations to maintain order and ensure the safety of all attendees and staff.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any security incidents or emergencies that may arise, including medical emergencies, disturbances, or fire alarms.
  • Monitor access points to restricted areas and ensure that only authorized individuals are granted entry.
  • Collaborate with festival organizers, other security personnel, and local law enforcement agencies as needed to address security issues and maintain a safe environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting attendees with inquiries, directions, and any other assistance they may require.
  • Document any incidents, disturbances, or security breaches in detailed reports and communicate information to supervisory staff as necessary.
  • Conduct regular security checks of festival infrastructure, equipment, and facilities to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the festival grounds to deter potential criminal activity and promote a sense of security among attendees.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations, to ensure compliance and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

Requirements:


  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform regular patrols and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Availability to work overnight shifts and weekends as required

Overnight shifts are:
4pm to 12am & 12am to 8am.

  • Valid security license or guard card certification is required when applying.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Reporting Relationships:

Overnight Security Staff are part of the Operations Department. Overnight Security Staff report directly to their Safety Staff Manager under the direction of the Director of Festival Operations.
