Summary of Role:
Come join the team at a gold medal award-winning park district We are looking for passionate, dedicated early childhood professionals to work in our thriving full day preschool program for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old.
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Classroom Coordinator, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting Lead Teachers in the Children's Circle Full Day Preschool program.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, benefits eligible position, and hours will be 9AM-6PM, M-F.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher with lesson planning and implementation.
- Take responsibility for upkeep of classroom, equipment and facilities.
- Assist children in cleanup activities; keep all cleaning charts updated.
- Administer physician prescribed medication with written parental authorization; chart all prescription medications
- Remind parents to sign their child "in" and "out" when entering and leaving the center.
- Shall assist children in establishing good toileting and personal hygiene habits.
- Supervise all activities to ensure safety. Interact directly with the children throughout the day
- Eat all meals/snacks with the children and assist in the development of good nutrition habits.
- Be willing to participate in activities leading to professional growth in child development.
- Maintain prompt hours; notify Early Childhood Classroom Coordinator in event of illness.
- Ensure compliance with all DCFS policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Follow all policies of the center and of the Glencoe Park District.
- Attend staff meetings, school functions, and complete any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must meet all necessary DCFS qualifications including a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and be at least 19 years of age or older.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to assist in the planning and supervision of activities which promote healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development in each child.
All employees must pass a criminal background check and drug test which is paid for by the Glencoe Park District.
