THE OPPORTUNITY:


As an Intellectual Property Docket Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing and calendaring all intellectual property correspondence upon receipt and in accordance with firm guidelines.

You will handle requests from attorneys, paralegals and secretaries related to a variety of trademark and patent docketing duties, including running regular and ad hoc reports.


THE DAY-TO-DAY:


  • Review and calendar all intellectual property correspondence upon receipt in accordance with firm guidelines
  • Process correspondence from international agents foreign associates
  • Perform quality control of recently docketed patent and trademark matters to ensure accuracy and conformance with best practices
  • Conduct periodic status checks and participate in docket audits using government websites and communication to international agents
  • Respond to attorney and client inquires relating to intellectual property docketing matters
  • Followup with attorneys and staff on deadlines to ensure compliance
  • Generate docket reports as directed
  • Manage the filing process with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Work with the records and conflicts teams to ensure risk policy compliance, including opening new matters in the New Business Intake system
  • Compose client correspondence.
  • Removal of completed items verified through Trademark Status & Document Retrieval ("TSDR") and enter missing or updated information through PAIR and TSDR
  • Monitor client closures and perform docket system cleanup of related entries as appropriate
  • Process incoming lateral attorney and client intellectual property portfolios by entering the dates into the firm's docketing system
  • If applicable, enter billable time into the firm's time entry system
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant and applicable Intellectual Property law, rules and procedures
  • As applicable, maintain knowledge of intellectual property processes and procedures for both patent and trademark docketing

YOU HAVE:


  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • A minimum of three years of IP docketing experience in both trademark and patent matters.
  • Familiarity with Foreign and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules and the trademark and patent lifecycle are required.
  • Experience with CPI or equivalent rulesbased intellectual property docketing software is required.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign patents, and US and foreign trademarks.
  • Ability to budget time efficiently while handling multiple tasks.
  • Must accept direction and constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment in performing all aspects of the position.

The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $80,000 annually, which is based on a 40-hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Los Angeles, CA.

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.

An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs.

This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
