Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a
CNC Programmer.

Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA-Otay Mesa location and reports to the Director of Manufacturing.


Position Summary:

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.


Essential Responsibilities May Include:


  • Creates instructions for machining parts using MasterCam
  • Reviews 3D CAD design blueprints (SolidWorks)
  • Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut
  • Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program
  • Communicates with engineers and clients who will use the programs
  • Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests
  • Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software
  • Determines sequence of operations in a program
  • Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency
  • Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs
  • Prepares and sets up CNC machines to run first parts

Basic Qualifications & Education:


  • Minimum of 5 years programming experience in composite CNC machined parts
  • MUST have advanced knowledge of programming
  • Strong understanding of 4 and 5 Axis machining, materials, processes and tolerances
  • Mechanically able to assemble and disassemble parts and assemblies
  • Selfstarter with excellent time management skills and ability to establish objectives
  • Experience with contact and noncontact inspection methods
  • Organized, selfmotivated, strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple duties, set priorities and follow tasks through completion
  • Capable of working in an environment in which demands and priorities change
  • Processing techniques such as wet layup, mold and fixture design, inspection methods, and infusion preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Compensation:

The hourly range for this position falls within $35-$46. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
