- Counselors will be required to complete 2 weeks of training prior to the start of camp.
- Counselors will receive their stipend of $3,100 (before taxes), which will be distributed in equal payments on a semi-monthly schedule.
- Residential Counselors will receive On-Campus Housing accommodations July - 27, 2024.
- Meals will be provided during camp programming using Dining Dollars.
- 1. Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of students during activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended outcomes.

- Be alert to students and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp director when appropriate.
- Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper utilization, care, and maintenance is adhered to; report necessary repairs promptly to camp director.
- 4. Be a role model to students and staff in your attitude and behavior.
- Set a good example for students and others including cleanliness, punctuality, personal language, appearance, health habits, sportsmanship, and manners.
- Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns.
- 5. Represent PATHS when interacting with parents, University of Utah staff/faculty/students, and community members.
- Provide participant guardians appropriate feedback and information as needed for their students to have a successful camp experience.

Youth Education is seeking passionate individuals to join the team as a PATHS Residential Counselor.
The PATHS Program prepares prospective first-generation students, those who will be the first in their family to go to college, to achieve their full potential in high school and beyond.
Counselors will work with groups of up to 30 students from a variety of backgrounds at the University of Utah's campus in the summer for 8 week-long camps.
PATHS Counselors are leaders, mentors, educators, and advocates for PATHS students and their communities.They supervise and ensure the safety of students during camp, teach and lead program curriculum, develop and coordinate enrichment activities, supervise during overnight stays, and act as positive role models.
Applicants must pass applicable background checks in order to be hired.Join us this summer and be part of a fun, dynamic team that enriches the lives of high school students.
Counselors will be contracted on a temporary basis from May 28, 2024 through July 31, 2024 and be required to work on July 24, 2024 (Pioneer Day).
Individual Debriefing:
Monday, July 2- Wednesday, July 31
Accommodations will be provided during residential weeks and employees are expected to stay overnight during those weeks.
Residential Counselors who choose the regular shift will work approximately 40 hours per week excluding weekends during residential camps in July.
Those who choose the flex shift will work approximately 20 hours per week excluding weekends during both day and residential camps.
Shifts will vary depending on programming needs and are subject to change.The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
Eligible new hires with prior URS service, may elect to enroll in URS if they make the election before they become eligible for retirement (usually the first day of work).
Contact Human Resources at for information.Individuals who previously retired and are receiving monthly retirement benefits from URS are subject to URS' post-retirement rules and restrictions.
