    Description

    Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is one of New Jersey's largest non-profit social service agencies with programs and facilities serving Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.

    We are currently seeking a Full Time Cook for our St. Bridget's Shelter, located in Newark, NJ. St. Bridget's is comprised of a shelter, a transitional living facility, a permanent housing program and a drip-in center that seeks to ensure safety and build stability in the lives of homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS.

    Job Duties:

    • The Cook is responsible for the ordering of food, planning menus, and preparation of nutritious meals within the given budget.
    • He or she ensures proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and cooking utensils, maintains proper food storage regarding temperature and expiration dates, and oversees the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and food pantry.
    Job Requirements:
    • This position requires a high school diploma or GED issued by a state DOE approved testing center
    • 2 to 3 years related experience
    • ServSafe Food Handler's Certificate
