Health Partners is a primary care and dental clinic focused on delivering compassionate care to the uninsured and underinsured in our community.

We are looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join our team The position does require some travel to out Nanjemoy office generally two times per month.


General Summary
Under direct supervision of the on-site provider, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists provider and clinical staff with patient care and may perform clerical duties. Where electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the EMR for documentation purposes.


Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Assists provider during physical exams and procedures.
  • Ensures that charts for providers are prepared for that day with appropriate forms and documentation.
  • Assists staff with scheduling appointments, requesting medical information, test results, photocopying, filing and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assists with obtaining authorizations or referrals needed.
  • Maintains patient charts and ensures information is filed/scanned accurately.
  • Functions as a collaborative team member; demonstrates commitment to group goals and teamwork.
  • Takes vitals on all patients to include height, weight, blood pressure and temperature.
  • Completes patient history, medication documentation, and other orders as instructed by the provider.
  • Performs point of care testing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection, assists the providers with basic routine tests, injections, and procedures (Blood Glucose, U/A etc.).
  • Works within scope and with providers to answer patient phone questions and complete refill encounters with appropriate documentation in the chart or EMR.
  • Administers select medications and injections under direct supervision of provider.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of medical assisting and medical clinic experience required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Pay:
$ $22.00 per hour
