The Role


Gotham Greens is seeking a Director of Growing to oversee and provide technical support to its national network of greenhouses with the goal of maintaining the highest standards of crop yield and quality.

This role reports to the VP of Growing.


This role will be based at one of the company greenhouse locations and will require frequent travel (up to 50%) to all greenhouse locations.


Who You Are

  • We are seeking someone with:_
  • A strong academic background and professional experience in CEA
  • A command of plant sciences; and knowledge and experience achieving target crop yields and quality
  • A command of data, analytics, forecasting and KPIs, particularly related to planning, predicting, monitoring and achieving target crop metrics
  • An exceptional ability to identify, develop and implement standardized processes and reports and to identify, address, and elevate issues that may arise
  • Extensive experience overseeing all aspects of a CEA facility with the ability to provide technical support and training in climate management, plant nutrition and irrigation, food safety, crop scheduling, IPM, inventory management, etc.
  • Experience recruiting qualified and talented growers and executing learning and development programs and curriculum to guide the team and increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • 10 years' experience growing in commercial greenhouses and hydroponics
  • Extensive people management experience, ideally in a growthstage company
  • Experience in lettuce and herbs strongly preferred
  • Proficient in one or more leading greenhouse control systems
  • Strong IPM background and experience relevant to lettuces and herbs
  • Strong math and chemistry skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A strong network and connection to academic partners
